Aloha Grade 5 students and families,
I'd like to welcome Michelle Witherow and her family to our Ho'okele Ohana! She is joining us from Mokulele Elementary and has already bonded well with our fifth grade class. The class has been enjoying her cheerful and fun personality! I'd also like to welcome Miss Kaila Kaawaloa to our Ho'okele Ohana! She is a student participating in the "Exploration in Education" program at Kapolei High School. She will be joining us in class observing and working with the students and myself. She has already been an awesome support and we are all thrilled to have her with us. There have been new activities introduced at recess such as soccer and football. However, the students are reminded that there are NO contact games allowed. In soccer, students are allowed to line up the balls and shoot at the goal. In football, students are allowed to pass across to one person only. The administration is adamant that if the students cannot follow the rules, these optional activities will be taken away. Let's continue to follow our TRIBE agreements and practice safety first always. Let's continue to be a Quality example for the rest of the school, fifth graders! “There is no substitute for hard work.” – Thomas Edison I look forward to an awesome week with you all! Aloha Grade 5 Students and Families,
The grade 5 students did an AMAZING job at our school's dedication ceremony on Friday. Thank you, students, for behaving exceptionally well and for following our Tribe Agreements all the way until the very end! That is the way to set the example for the rest of the school. We are all so proud of you! Our hula dancers did an incredible job dancing on the stage in front of hundreds of people at our dedication ceremony. I had chicken skin! Thank you to Bea May, Taylor, Rylee, Mya, Jonah, Angel, Sanoe, and Sierra for sacrificing your recess time to practice and for doing a fantastic job. We are all so proud of you! Our Ho'okele Grade 5 RoboRayz did a phenomenal job at their very first VEX IQ Tournament at Pearl City High School this past Saturday. The extraordinary amount of effort, hard work, and teamwork shown was evident to everyone there and as a result the team won the Elementary Excellence Award! Congratulations to a great first tournament and we all know that you will do an awesome job the state tournament in Janurary 2016. Keep up the Quality work and dedication, RoboRayz! Thank you to our Grade 5 families for supporting Ho'okele's first fundraiser. Your support will help fund many curriculum and technology needs to help the students reach their full potential. “Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart.” – Confucious I look forward to an awesome week with you all!
